melissa o’neil

when i walked into my first ever (hot) yoga class in 2006, i could barely touch my toes, had never heard a word of sanskrit, and thought simply that yoga = stretching. i spent the entire 90 minutes desperately waiting for the part where it got easy, and that part never came. but i emerged...dripping in sweat, exhausted, exhilarated, immensely humbled...and knew it was the start of something big.

from that moment on, yoga has been a part of my life. it's not just something that i do, it's something that i am, and something i'm so passionate about sharing. as a student and a teacher, my practice is fueled by curiosity—that spark that drives us to evolve, to shift perspective, to explore new ground, and to do the hard things. i aspire to fan that flame for my students too. to help every yogi, at every level, to embrace challenge, to move and flow and smile and breathe and sweat and laugh and dare and grow and, ultimately, to find joy in the hard things…on and off the mat.
