brian groot

i am an ultra-distance runner from strathroy, ontario. in my early days of running, i began using yoga as a method of cross-training and found the benefits to be nothing short of amazing. while practicing hot yoga every day for 3 weeks, i knocked over 12 minutes off my marathon time! another 3-4 months and i dropped my personal best time by an additional 10 minutes. i was hooked! after seeing how much the practice not only helped my running, but also made me feel better mentally and energetically, i embarked on a journey to india to take part in a 1-month intensive yoga teacher certification program offered through modo (formerly moksha) international.

i taught a variety of classes at modo yoga london between 2010 and 2018 as well as occasional classes in the community, at schools, and other studios in the area. i have been able to adapt much of what i have learned as an ultra runner and a registered massage therapist into useful insight while instructing, encouraging my students to discover more of the great potential they all hold within.

i am also a loving husband and very proud father of two toddlers. when i’m not running, building, or growing something, i love to spend time taking long walks with my family. i am always looking to learn more about the world and meet new people and am excited to share the gift of yoga with this amazing community!
